The Emory Advocates for Justice in Palestine (EAJP) was founded in the Spring of 2008 by a
diverse group of Emory students who shared the common goal of increasing awareness, on Emory University's campus, about the
plight of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territories as well as the suffering of the Palestinian
refugees in neighboring countries, and the Palestinian citizens of Israel.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The EAJP seeks to engage Emory
and the greater community in learning about the realities of the conflict, and about the injustices committed against
Palestinians which continue to hinder the peace process today. It is not the EAJP's role to dictate what compromises that
both Israelis and Palestinians must commit to in order to reach sustainable peace. However, the EAJP seeks to promote
an understanding of the conflict, which takes into account Israeli transgressions against Palestinian sovereignty, mass expulsions,
settlement construction, and Israeli human rights violations as a hindrance to peace, not only Palestinian reactions; along
with acknowledging America’s pivotal role in this conflict. Emory Advocates for Justice
in Palestine works to accomplish these ends through a series of imaginative, educational, and non-confrontational events geared
toward generating dialogue among all spheres of the American community.
